PRESS: We’re in the GreenLeaf

There’s a great article by Kristie Snyder about Empowered in this month’s issue of the GreenLeaf, Greenstar coop’s newspaper.

Here’s an excerpt…

You’re sure to recognize friends and neighbors, or maybe those folks up the street you’ve been meaning to introduce yourself to — the ones with all those solar panels on their garage. The people profiled come from all walks of life. “We’re hoping everyone sees someone in the film that they can relate to,” says Evergreen.

Report from the Local Food, Fiber & Energy Fair

On November 17, we participated in the 3rd annual Local Food, Fiber & Energy Fair at Mann Library on the Cornell University Campus. We had a table for Empowered in the energy section of the fair alongside some of the folks featured in the film – Ithaca Biodiesel, Enfield Energy, Renovus Energy and Sustainable Tompkins.

We played the rough cut of the film on a loop while handing out free buttons and letting people know about the upcoming screening at Cinemapolis on Dec 7.

The fair had great energy and a lot of student foot traffic, thanks to the great location. Fair organizer, Jeff Piestrak, said the event was getting so big that they will need to expand to a larger space next year – woohoo!

Join us at the first-ever viewing of Empowered, at Cinemapolis in Ithaca

We invite you to join us at the first public screening of “Empowered” on Friday, September 30th, to help kick off the 2011 Green Buildings Open House Tour. See the solar, wind, geothermal, and other alternative energy systems that are transforming Tompkins County, in our neighbors’ backyards. Save the date and bring your friends!

The film will be introduced by the filmmakers, and will be followed by a panel discussion featuring the director and people who appeared in the film.
